Mace Ranch is a development community located on the eastern point of Davis and spans 1,760 acres. Built in the mid 1990s, Mace Ranch offers homes in a variety of sizes and styles. Beautiful Mace Ranch Park is the community's centerpiece with athletic fields, playgrounds, a picnic area, and protected open space for burrowing owls, jackrabbits and other Davis wildlife. In 2003, the City of Davis set aside 33 acres of the Yolo County Grasslands Regional Park as a burrowing owl habitat in the Mace Ranch area.

The driveway leading from the old highway, lined by Olive and Oak trees, is now a bike path. Mace Ranch is a 20-minute drive from downtown Sacramento with shopping and schools nearby.
